How it Works

As you work through the course you will be asked to share your learning experience with the rest of the course group, looking at the key spirit types and sharing tasting notes. Tasting is an essential part of studying for this course, and you will need to taste a minimum of 8 spirits (not provided, but you will be given guidance on the styles to taste).

Once you register, we will courier you the course materials. A few days before the course is set to start, you will receive an email directly from WSET providing you with your log-in information. You will also receive an email from Adventure in Wine with your log-in information for our Student Portal.

For the duration of this course, there will be a dedicated Educator  from who will follow your progress in your activities and give you relevant feedback. 

The Q&A Forum is open to the group to answer any questions related to the course, but it will also be monitored by the course Educator.

The Tasting Notes Forum is where you add your tasting notes, and should be used on a regular basis. There is a minimum of five entries required (at least one entry per week).

Each week you have activities that are intended to test your knowledge and understanding of the material. 

The recap quiz at the end of each week can be attempted as many times as you wish. These tests are graded, so do them to the best of your ability.

The Mock Multiple Choice Practice test (week 5) consists of 50 multiple choice Level 2 questions covering the topics listed in the specification. It can be attempted as many times as you wish. This is the same number of questions you will have in the actual examination. 

As well as all the materials provided by WSET, you will also have access to Adventure in Wine's Student Portal which has many resources to help you with your studies. You will also have access to an Adventure in Wine Educator help you on your journey.

Final Exam

You must register your intent to write the exam 15 days prior to the exam date by emailing us at You will be asked to pay $50 at this time. If you write the exam, the fee is fully refundable. If you fail to show up to the exam or cancel within 15 days of the exam date, the fee will not be refunded. You'll be sent the exam registration link once you sign up for the course.

Students write exams in person. All exams are held in Toronto unless there is a scheduled course or exam in the following cities/areas: Hamilton, Kitchener or Prince Edward County. Please contact us for more information.
