Filipa Pato

Filipa Pato

Today, we’ll head to 1.5 hours south-west to Bairrada, an exciting region producing fabulous still and sparkling wines

  • Your day will start with a 1:30 drive to the Bairrada wine region for a private visit, wine tasting and lunch at one of our favourite Bairrada producers, Filipa Pato. The philosophy of this wine producer is simple: create authentic wines without makeup, they express the true nature of the vineyards from which they come. The producer focuses on indigenous grapes only. Baga, Bical, Arinto, Cerceal and Maria Gomes create soulful wines from vineyard sites with soils, microclimates and aspect ideal for growing our exquisite wine grapes with biodynamic viticultural practices. In the winery we gently handle the grapes, minimal intervention and strict monitoring of the wine allow our grapes to express themselves fully.

  • Enjoy lunch at the property.

  • After lunch we will go to Filipa’s father’s winery! Luis Pato is a pioneer, single handedly turning around the reputation of Bairrada with his exceptional wines from the indigenous Baga grape. Since the eighteenth century. the Pato family has been producing wine at their Quinta do Ribeirinho estate, but it wasn't until 1980 when Luis produced his first wine, a pure Baga from an exceptional year, that the Pato name was brought to the world.

  • Return to Porto.

  • Free evening.
